About
Qisasukhra offers excerpts of previously untranslated Arabic literary works in English.
All translations are by Robin Moger.
Feedback is most welcome. If you do spot an outrage (a spelling mistake?), have a suggestion of any kind or simply object to my punctuation, I can be reached at qisasukhra@gmail.com.
All effort has been made to obtain the necessary permissions. If this has proved impossible, or at least beyond my powers (admittedly a different thing), I will indicate this in the introductory blurb at the head of the post. Otherwise assume all is well.
This blog sounds a great initiative. I wish for it all success.
Thank you, Ali, much appreciated.
is there a reason you only choose egyptian writers?
No reason exactly, but probably a cause, in that I’m more familiar with Egyptian writers and it was thinking of Egypt that I began this blog.
The absence of other Arab writers is a matter of practicality not prejudice and Egypt’s a pretty big place to be going on with! But a good question.
aha. well good luck, seems like a good venture!
Appreciated. That’s not to say of course that I don’t read writers from other countries or that they won’t appear. And of course I have my prejudices, I shouldn’t pretend otherwise, but they’re noble ones: matters of taste. God forbid this blog should try and be representative of anything but my own taste.
